“Good Night, Peasants”: Newsom Mocks Trump With Savage Marie Antoinette Meme

California Governor Gavin Newsom let loose on President Donald Trump this week, torching him for taking off to Mar-a-Lago while his administration fights in court to block full food assistance for millions of Americans.

“Donald Trump is literally fighting in court to ensure Americans starve. HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU,” Newsom wrote, hammering the president for vacationing while families scramble to afford groceries during the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

Newsom’s press office didn’t hold back either, accusing the administration of “fighting tooth and nail to starve children.” Then they dropped the final blow: an AI-generated image of Trump dressed as Marie Antoinette, captioned, “GOOD NIGHT, PEASANTS!” The message wasn’t exactly subtle.

The outrage came after the Department of Justice asked the Supreme Court to block a federal judge’s order requiring the government to restore full SNAP benefits for November. In other words: while Americans wait in food bank lines, the Trump administration is pushing to reduce what little help they get.

Democrats across the country piled on. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called the officials responsible “sick people.” Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said, “The lengths Trump will go to keep Americans hungry knows no bounds.

”New York Governor Kathy Hochul added that Trump“doesn’t care if millions of Americans go hungry,” while Senator Kirsten Gillibrand blasted him for “fighting to deny American children, seniors, and veterans food while he redecorates the White House bathrooms.”

Rep. Jasmine Crockett reminded the public who’s paying for Trump’s elaborate lifestyle: “If you are one of the 40 million AMERICANS receiving SNAP… please never forget that this man & the Republicans were lockstep with making sure you didn’t get your 6 dollars a day! Meanwhile our tax dollars are wasted on golf trips.”

The contrast grew even sharper when Trump took to Truth Social to demand that lawmakers stay in Washington until they reach a funding deal. Minutes later, he got on a jet and flew to Palm Beach for another weekend at his resort.

Let them eat cake — but he’ll be at the golf course.
